Overview
Abeer Khan is a Mumbai-based independent filmmaker and photographer whose work spans documentary, narrative, brand films, and video art. A self-taught artist, she blends fiction and non-fiction with art and activism, approaching her subjects with insight and empathy. Beyond her work, she enjoys Urdu poetry and watching films.
Khan’s projects have premiered at prestigious platforms such as Berlin’s Künstlerinnenhaus Mousonturm, the Kochi Biennale, and film festivals in the UK, Canada, and India. Her work has been part of impactful exhibitions, including Sonrais de Bombay (#breakwithtrafficking) in Spain and Getting Back to Nature, published by National Geographic.
Her films, like Makaan and Child-Lock, have been featured at festivals such as VAICA, Hyderabad Literature Live, and Vuedemic. Publications including The Hindu, Bloomberg, and Better Photography have highlighted her work.
