Ecological activism has seen a significant surge in contemporary art practice, amongst the most recent trend, practitioners, intellectuals and think tanks have turned their focus towards the environment, urbanisation and ecology in contemporary times. This shift has significantly sidelined how we look at and curate art exhibitions and therefore, has become a tool or an instrument of how the state diverts an individual's focus from issues such as casteism, racism, oppression, migration and varied forms of human sufferings. High politics is working towards building an environment where the state can not be questioned simply by creating an atmosphere of fear and if not that, an environment where we as individuals have limited power to comprehend the political tools of manipulation.

The exhibition is an attempt to bring forward the voice from the margins and aims to represent them and give an expression to the collective concerns they raise. Lament Traces seek to excavate the layers of human suffering, conflict and psychological impact that is deep-rooted within the society. We beckon to prop into the cause and dwell to understand how colonisation has influenced socio-economic culture in contemporary times. Lament Traces is a reflection of art practice that are counter statements to the instruments of oppression and manipulation. It acknowledges the suffering / trauma and is attentive to the changing nature of the political ecosystem through regeneration of memory and how an individual translated the idea of pain and loss via the lens of intergenerational history.
